****Conjuger les verbes (Conjugating verbs)
1. Trouve le verbe (Find the verb)
2. Enleve la terminaison (Remove the ending: -er)
3. Trouve la personne (Find out who we are talking about)
4. Ecris ce qui reste (Write what is left of the verb)
5. Ecris la nouvelle terminaison (Write out the new ending)
Grade four students should be practicing their alphabet in French. This really helps when students are trying to find the correct spelling in the dictionary and when playing games that practice French vocabulary.

Grade 4 Immersion
Listening: Your child's current focus is to interpret simple French commands/requests.
Speaking: Your child's focus is to participate in French to communicate simple thoughts/ideas/information by using his/her own learned French vocabulary.
Reading: Your child's focus is basic comprehension of a simple French text and to visualize what he/she has read.
Writing: Your child's focus is Procedural Writing.
Grade 6 Immersion
Listening: Your child's focus is to listen to interpret French messages.
Speaking: Your child's focus is to communicate information and ideas in French on a regular basis.
Writing: Your child's focus is writing a biography/autobiography.
Grade 4 Immersion
Listening: Your child's focus is to express his/her personal opinion about the messages in a variety of oral media texts and give evidence from the texts for their opinions
Speaking: Your child's focus is to use familiar words and expressions to produce planned, rehearsed, and some spontaneous messages in French that contain information and ideas about studied topics or personal topics
Reading: Your child's focus is to read simple French texts with expression and to make personal connections
Writing: Your' child's focus is to write a simple narrative that contains four events.
N.B. The grade fours are currently working on creating short skits that involve going to get their hair cut. These short skits will allow the grade fours to practice simple vocabulary required to enter a salon and explain what they are looking for.
Grade 6 Immersion
Listening: Your child's focus is to demonstrate an understanding of the meaning of various oral French texts that contain familiar and unfamiliar words
Speaking: Your child's focus is to use familiar words and expressions to produce planned, rehearsed, and spontaneous messages in French containing information about various topics
Reading: Your child's focus is to read French texts that contain familiar vocabulary and language structures at a sufficient rate and with sufficient expression to convey the sense of the text.
Writing: Your child's focus is to create a narrative in the form of a children's book.
N.B. The grade sixes are currently creating menus for a restaurant and practicing how to order with the grade threes. This everyday situation will allow all students to practice for a typical situation that could arise in real life.
Grade 4 Immersion
